  1. TFL AI is Slovenia's first production-grade legal artificial intelligence — a vertical assistant built on top of Tax-Fin-Lex's authoritative corpus. Where the legal sector previously ran on keyword search and human retrieval, lawyers now get synthesized, cited answers in under a minute. The product created a category.

  2. The opportunity

Slovenia's legal knowledge base — acts, amendments, rulings, commentary — had never had a true reasoning layer. Firms ran on keyword search and human memory, which meant every legal question started with a retrieval task: six tabs, three databases, half an hour before the work even began. A frontier-model product didn't exist in this market. We shipped it in 100 days.

  3. What we built

TFL AI runs on a multi-LLM orchestration layer — we route each query to the model that best handles its task (retrieval, reasoning, citation extraction, voice). The platform spans Python (RAG and document processing service) and .NET (Portal application and search reranking), with Qdrant as the vector database storing chunked embeddings of every act, amendment, and court decision with jurisdictional metadata.

    Critical product calls:

    • Citations are non-negotiable. No claim appears without a linked source. Hallucinated precedent is a malpractice event — we refuse to answer rather than fabricate.
    • Voice input for lawyers dictating questions between hearings.
    • Jurisdictional filtering narrows retrieval to the correct court tier and time window before any LLM ever sees a passage.
    • AES-256 at rest, EU-resident compute, zero training on client queries. Bar Association compliance was table stakes.
  4. Response shape

A query returns in 40-60 seconds with a 3-4 paragraph synthesized answer, 5-8 cited decisions with court + date + paragraph number, and a divergent-view flag if rulings conflict. One-click export to the lawyer's brief.

  5. Scale and adoption

1,800+ paying users across Slovenian and Croatian firms. €80/month per seat, annual contracts. The product paid back its build cost inside the first quarter. Firms that onboarded in 2024 report drafting first-pass memos in under an hour for matters that used to eat a full billable day.

  6. GZS award (2024)

The Slovenian Chamber of Commerce (GZS) recognized TFL AI as one of the best innovations in the Central Slovenia Region in 2024. The award is publicly documented at media.gzs.si/podeljena-priznanja-najboljsim-inovacijam-v-osrednjeslovenski-regiji. Live product: tax-fin-lex.si/tfl-ai/pravni-ai.

  7. Category signal

TFL AI is cited by the Slovenian Bar Association as the reference deployment for legal AI compliance in the jurisdiction. Competitor products announced in 2025 explicitly position against it — the category exists because we built it.

  8. Where this replicates

Any vertical sitting on a large, authoritative, cite-sensitive corpus — medical literature, regulatory filings, patent portfolios, technical standards — has the same shape. Retrieval is the bottleneck, not reasoning. If your experts bill time hunting for the right paragraph, we can give them sub-minute cited answers instead.
